Temple Sinai of Swampscott and Marblehead: Cantor--Part Time position

CANTOR POSITION: PART TIME
Temple Sinai, located in the seacoast town of Marblehead, Massachusetts is currently accepting applications for the position of part- time Cantor. We are an Egalitarian, Contemporary Conservative Synagogue, open to innovative prayer and singing in addition to the traditional melodies common to most Conservative congregations. Our Temple family is primarily middle-age and above, with great interest in adult education. After thirty-two years of dedicated service on a part-time basis our current Cantor is retiring.
Duties will consist of the following:

1. Officiate at High Holy Day Services
2. Officiate at the Shalosh Regalim Services
3. Officiate at approximately 26 Shabbatot
4. Read the Megillah on Purim

In searching for our next part-time Cantor, Temple Sinai is looking for the following:

1. Possess Professionalism, sincerity, and pleasant amiable personality
2. Knowledge of Traditional Conservative style services
3. Ability to chant Torah, Haftorah and Megilot
4. Ability to teach B’nai / B’not Mitzvah lessons. Additional compensation
5. Availability to teach adults who would like to learn various aspects of the service
6. A Cantor who will encourage Congregants to sing and participate
7. Over time will become an integral part the Congregation’s Jewish Life
8. Collaboration with our Rabbi, during the planning of community events and Holy Days.
